2027 Brooks Scholarship Application

Application Due: Friday, January 15, 2027 at 11:59 PM EST

In addition to applying for admission to the College, students applying for the Brooks Music Scholarship must also provide the following materials to the Department of Music:

A music resume detailing the student’s background, experience, and teachers. Also include student contact information.
An essay (approximately one page) commenting on the student's personal connection to the repertoire or composition examples applicants plan on submitting and how this connects to their interest in Holy Cross and goals for their time at the College. Be sure to include the applicant's name on the essay.
Two letters of recommendation. One letter should be from the student's current private vocal/instrumental or composition teacher; the other letter should be from a music teacher or other professional musician with whom the student has worked. You will be asked to enter email addresses for your recommenders below.

Performers: video recordings of two selections in contrasting styles. Include piano accompaniment if applicable. Orchestral or ensemble excerpts are acceptable, provided they clearly feature the applicant as a soloist or featured performer. Recordings should not exceed 15 minutes in length. Links to file sharing sites (SoundCloud, DropBox, YouTube, etc.) are preferred. Recordings must be presented as captured, without any post-production editing or audio enhancement.
Composers: two original compositions for contrasting instrumentations. Include audio recordings if available. Computer-realized recordings are acceptable. Links to file sharing sites (SoundCloud, DropBox, YouTube, etc.) are preferred. Scores generated wholly or in part by artificial intelligence are not permitted.
