  • Washington Semester

Students who want a deeper understanding of the political process, public policy making, or the media gain invaluable hands-on experience through our Washington Semester program. You engage in independent research related to your major while working with national organizations and leaders. Typical work sites include congressional offices, federal agencies, national news organizations, and public interest groups.

  • Academic Internships

Academic internships combine fieldwork at an internship site with an on-campus internship seminar or tutorial. The academic component gives you a way of analyzing and reflecting on the work component with faculty and other students, enriching the entire experience. Holy Cross has established internship sites at a wide variety of businesses and social service and cultural organizations in both Greater Worcester and the Boston area.

  • Community-Based Learning

Courses throughout the Holy Cross curriculum give students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of class materials by integrating academics with civic engagement. In addition to coursework, students collaborate with a local school, health institution, or not-for-profit group on a specific service, research, or public action project.
